Herd for Hope Award Nominations are NOW OPEN!

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, advancing research, and supporting families navigating a diagnosis that changes everything.

For our community, this month also carries deep personal meaning as we remember our dear friend and colleague, Sarah Broadus. Because of her steadfast advocacy for the colorectal cancer community, it is only fitting that we share that nominations for the Herd for Hope Award are now open and will remain open through June 30.

Sarah Broadus first came to One Day to Remember as a recipient family in 2023. What began as a single day of respite soon grew into something much more. Sarah became an integral part of our organization, serving as an Outings Coordinator who created meaningful experiences for families navigating life with advanced-stage cancer.

Her humor, compassion, and determination left a lasting impression on everyone she met. A fierce advocate for the colorectal cancer community, Sarah used her voice to raise awareness, support fellow patients, and remind others that hope and humanity belong at the center of care. Even while facing her own stage IV diagnosis, she made it her mission to lift others up, a mission she fulfilled beyond measure.

A lifelong elephant lover, Sarah found deep meaning in their symbolism of family, strength, and resilience. Just as elephants protect and uplift their herd, Sarah surrounded her own children with love while extending that same circle of care to countless families through her kindness, courage, and unwavering spirit.

Nominations are now open and will be accepted through June 30. Please visit here for details and nomination criteria.

The Herd for Hope Award will be presented at One Bite One Day on October 8.
