Chanan was battling metastatic breast cancer while she and her husband were also raising two young daughters. The doctors didn’t give Chanan a very good prognosis, and this baseball-loving family wondered how they would be able to make memories together while mom was still with them. Enter One Day to Remember. We sent them (along with a photographer) to a baseball game to watch their beloved Texas Rangers play, and even included a behind-the-scenes tour of their favorite stadium. The girls loved the limo ride and lunch, but everyone’s favorite part of the day was when our photographer managed to pull some strings and get the family up on the jumbotron at the game (nobody complained about the plethora of snacks and ice cream consumed during the game, either)! When reflecting on what the outing meant to them, Chanan said: “It meant EVERYTHING to have a stress-free day. Having terminal cancer means stress almost every day, and it’s really started to affect our daughters, too. To see mom participate in a fun family activity was so good for them, and for all of us.”

We are sad to share that Chanan passed away in December of 2021, just five months after her outing. She was only 39 years old.
